Longarm Quilting
A time consuming and painstaking process made easier.
Quality. Speed. Convenience.
Longarm sewing machines are used to join the quilt top to the quilt batting and backing to finish the quilt.
A longarm quilting machine has a long space between the needle and arm to accommodate quilts of all sizes.
What are longarm sewing machines?
Longarm sewing machines are typically large in size ranging from 3 to 4 metres in length. They consist of an industrial sewing machine head, large rollers to attach the layers of material, a table to enable pantographs, and the large frame that supports this.
What can they do?
Longarm sewing machines often do edge-to-edge quilting, custom work and pantograph designs. The machinist can use programmed features, create programs to use, or complete custom work skillfully by hand on the machine.
Edge-to-edge quilting, also known as ‘all-over’ quilting is when one quilting pattern is repeated over the entire quilt, typically in horozontal or vertical rows.
Pantograph designs are patterns that can be used on the longarm machine to produced repeated designs that are automatically created when the quilt is being sewn. These can be purchased from companies, or online, or unique ones can be created if you have the expertise.
Custom designs can include the machinist exercising control over the machine to produce unique patterns and designs, such as creating original pantograph patterns or using a ruler to guide the direction of stitches when sewing.
